Michael John Meredith, 80, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday, August 23, 2024, the day after his 80th birthday. He was born on August 22, 1944, in Salt Lake City Utah, the son of John and Betty (Billings) Meredith. At an early age, Michael’s family moved to South Ogden, Utah, where he was raised until as a teenager, the family moved to Bellevue, Washington, and then to Boise, Idaho.
Michael married Gwen Chaffin on September 29, 1966, in Salt Lake City Temple, together they had 6 children. They later divorced.
Michael was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and as a young man served a mission to Scotland. Michael served faithfully as an Elders Quorum President and a Stake Seventy.
Michael is survived by his sons, Michael J. Meredith, Jr, Steven L. (Kristy) Meredith, I. Jacob (Jaime) Meredith, Joshua C. Meredith; daughters, Christina M. Taylor and Gillian M. (Michael) Steenblik; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren with one on the way; brothers, Paul, Daniel, David, and John; and sisters, Lu Ann Baxter, Becky Chandler, and Cyndi Ferrin. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty Meredith, and son-in-law Bruce Taylor.
A Celebration of Life will be on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park.
