New Iberia – Private services will be held at a later date for Michael Metzel, 67, who passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025.
A lifelong area resident, Michael was born in New Iberia on December 14, 1957, and was a graduate of New Iberia Senior High. He worked for many years as a safety coordinator in the oil and gas industry. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching Louisiana sports teams.
Survivors include his mother, Frances “Frankie” Alexander of New Iberia; children, Travis Metzel (Stephanie) of Missouri City, Texas and Kristi Bradley of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Victoria Metzel, Alex Metzel, Evan Metzel, Hudson Bradley, and Jaxon Bradley all of Missouri City, Texas; siblings, Michelle Gaspard of Tarpon Springs, Florida, Sandy Miller of Baton Rouge, and Greg Metzel of New Iberia; and his former wife and loving friend, Beth Metzel.
Michael was preceded in death by a daughter, Hali Jo Metzel; father, Dr. Melvin Metzel; brothers, Tony Metzel and John Metzel.
