Raymond "Ray" E. Metzel Jr., age 69, of North Canton, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. He was born on September 21, 1955, in York, PA, to the late Raymond and Ruth (Godfrey) Metzel Sr. A proud 1973 graduate of Revere High School, Ray had a strong work ethic. He had a long and varied career, working at Pepsi, Fame and Esber Beverage, and Oster Paving. He then spent his last 12 years as a Lowboy Driver for Central Allied Enterprises before retiring in 2021. He

was also an avid golfer and enjoyed working at the Mayfair Country Club. It can be said that in his final days, he was called to a perfect golf course, where the fairways are always green, the sun is always shining, and every shot is a hole-in-one.

On September 18, 1974, Ray married his high school sweetheart, Barbara (Hissong) Metzel. She was a dedicated and loving wife who survives him. He is also survived by their daughters, Candace (Casey) Keating and Jennifer Metzel; his sister, Vicki Lee; his mother-in-law, Norma Hissong; his grandchildren, Alyson Keating, Bradley (Sarah) Keating, Ryan Keating, and Aidan

Keating; and his great-grandson, Michael Keating; along with his brothers and sister in-law, Linda (Bob) Shull and Darren Hissong. Ray also leaves behind his close and dearest friend, Michael Grau, who he has been friends with since grade school and shared a fierce and competitive nature on the golf course up until a week prior to Ray's death. He will also be missed by his beloved dogs, Ivy, Izzi, and Teddy.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert Hissong. Ray will be deeply missed by his many friends and golfing companions.

A celebration of Ray's life will be held at a later date. Online condolences and fond memories may be left for the family at www.reedfuneralhome.com.
