Trudell Hatchett departed this life, October 8, 2025 at 2:51 AM as the Lord called her name to come home. Trudell Hatchett was born February 13, 1934 to the late Sarah Mae (Hall) Short and Cleveland D. Short of LImestone County, AL.
Trudell confessed her hope in Christ at an early age. She joined Jerusalem Baptist Church and relocated to Mt. Olive Baptist Church as a dedicated member under the leadership of Pastor Floyd Summers; until joining Word Harvest under the leadership of Pastor L.W. Bolton III until she was unable to attend church as she desired to do.
In addition to her parents, Trudell was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband, Joe Hatchett, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage; and 7 siblings, Robert Lewis, William, Carter, Max, Larry, and James Earl Short, and Gladys Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Timothy (Linda) Hatchett of San Antonio, Gwendolyn (Rick) Hatchett-Jones of Hiltonhead, SC, Ronald Hatchett of Canton, OH; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Johnson of Canton, OH; many nieces, nephews, cousins; brothers-in-law, Ray Jamar, Walter Jones, Ollie Hatchett; sisters-in-law, Lorean Jones, Cleo Hatchett, Mable Fletcher, Brenda Hatchett, Joan Short, Patricia Baker; and special friends, Ms. Elizabeth Haywood and Lorena Bryant (they were the Golden Girls).
Try to talk a little comfort in believing God knows best, that beyond the gates of Heaven there is sweet content and rest.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Peoples Baptist Church (701 17th St SE, Canton, OH 44707); with service, officiated by Rev. Dr. Walter J. Arrington and Pastor L.W. Bolton III, to follow at 12:00 PM. Please visit www.reedfuneralhome.com to sign the online guestbook.
