Michael Edward Harris, age 80 of Richville, died Thursday, April 3, 2025 at his home.

He was born in Sioux City, IA on April 15, 1944 and lived there with his parents, Edward and Evelyn (Swenson) Harris, and brother Craig, for five years. The family then moved to Alcester, IA where they farmed for several years. Around 1955, they moved back to Sioux City.

Mike graduated from Sioux City East High School and attended Morningside College. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard from 1962 to 1968. He worked in sales at various companies through his career.

In 1964, Mike married Sharon Newman. To this union, three children were born: Dave, Edward, and Sarah. They later divorced in 1994.

Michael then met and married Cheryl Richter. Together they purchased a resort, Northern Lights Resort, on Dead Lake in Otter Tail County, MN. They owned and operated the resort for 17 years before retiring. Mike and Cheryl continued to live on Dead Lake throughout their lives.

Mike was an extremely talented man in several fields and had many adventures during his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and remodeling. He was also appointed to and served for a time on the Otter Tail County Board of Adjustment.

Surviving Mike are his children, Dave (Edie) Harris, Edward (Jeni) Harris and Sarah Harris; four grandchildren, Erik, Jason, Emma, and Madison. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Cheryl in 2024; grandson, Zachary in 2019, and brother, Craig, in 1970.
