He was born on March 18, 1947, in Tulia, Texas, to Elbert F. Sweatt and Grace (Sorrenson) Sweatt.
Mike lived a life defined by faith, family, and craftsmanship. A member of Acton Baptist Church and the Granbury Woodworkers, he found great joy in using his talents to create and teach. He especially loved spending time in his shop, sharing his skills with his grandchildren and teaching them how to turn pens and work with wood - lessons that will be treasured for generations to come.
Over the years, Mike farmed and dedicated much of his professional life to serving others through the Farm Services Agency, where he held the position of County Executive Director in several Texas counties, including El Paso, Mitchell, Hockley, Hood, Palo Pinto, Summerville, and Parker. His strong work ethic and genuine care for people were evident in every role he filled.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Grace Sweatt.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Jolynn (Reed) Sweatt of Granbury, Texas; son, Craig Sweatt and wife, Shannon of Peaster, Texas; daughter, Melissa "Missy" (Sweatt) Hutson and husband, Billy of Northlake Texas; five grandchildren, Ashtyn (Sweatt) Anderson and husband, Hunter, of Fort Worth, Texas, Callen Sweatt and Alyssa Sweatt, both of Peaster, Texas, Chance Hutson of Springtown, Texas, and Cade Hutson and wife, Roslyn of Wolfforth, Texas. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Evans of Tulia, Texas; along with several nephews and a niece who loved him dearly.
Mike will be remembered for his steady faith, his kind and patient nature, and the love he poured into his family. His legacy lives on through the hands he taught, the lives he touched, and the family he cherished.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Acton Baptist Church, 3500 Fall Creek Hwy, Granbury, Texas 76049.
