Michael “Mikey” Dillon
Michael “Mikey” Dillon, 64, of Amery, Wisconsin, formerly of New Richmond and Hudson, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025.
Born on October 17, 1961, Mikey grew up surrounded by love in the foster home of Ludwig and Margaret Huelsman in Stillwater, Minnesota.
Mikey’s infectious smile, big hugs, and zest for life brought joy to all who met him. In his youth, he competed in The Special Olympics and bowled in a league, always bringing his enthusiasm to the games. Over the years, he worked at St. Croix Industries, the Super 8 Motel, and McDonald’s in Hudson. Later, he enjoyed attending the Day Program at ProAct.
He is survived by his foster sisters, Marge "Honey" (Sheldon “Shorty”) Ehman and Loretta Stark. He is also remembered with love by nieces Monica and Molly Ehman; nephew Dominic (Susan) Ehman; and great-nieces and nephew Ashley, Gabriella, Matthew, and Amelia.
Mikey was preceded in death by his foster parents, Ludwig and Margaret Huelsman, and Lawrence and Leona Logghe; longtime caseworker “Big Tom” Peterson; and best friend Tim Murphy. Mikey is also survived by countless friends, caregivers, and community members who became like family to him.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, September 29, at St. Patrick’s Church in Hudson, beginning at 4:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Light refreshments, including his favorite treats—popcorn, Diet Coke, and cake—will be shared.
In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to The Special Olympics or to the Activities Department at Willow Ridge Healthcare in Amery, whose staff gave Mikey exceptional care and joy in his final years.
