Michael Eugene Mikkelsen, 78, passed away May 3, 2024, at his home near Dale, MN.

Michael was born April 22, 1946, the son of Emil and Vera Mikkelsen. He grew up on the farm riding horse, trapping, fishing the Buffalo River and hunting. He graduated from Lake Park High School in 1965.

Michael and Mary Irene Buck were married on June 24, 1967, in Hitterdal, MN. The couple raised their four children in the very special neighborhood of Dale, MN, where neighbors were very special to them. Mary passed away after a short battle with cancer in December 2004.

In his spare time Michael enjoyed auction sales, gardening, trips to the casino and shooting pool with friends.

Michael is survived by his four children, Melanie (Bruce) Hanson, Lake Park, Jason (Mindi), Lake Park, Andrew (Sarah), Dale and Emily (Adam) Noah, Detroit Lakes; 14 grandchildren, Kylie, Casey, Walker, Gavan, Jaycie, Colton, Nydia, Harlo, Whitney, Jackson, Oliver, Maggie, Maxwell, and Tommy; and 3 great-grandchildren (soon to be 5); his 2 sisters, Joyce (Robert) Taurman, Bozeman, MT and Vicky (Ronald) Brauckmueller, Hawley, MN.
