Michael Moran Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Curlew Hills Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Feb. 22, 2026.
Michael P. Moran, 64, of Palm Harbor, FL, passed away on Thursday, February 19th, 2026.

Born on December 7th, 1961, in Brooklyn, NY, to James and Ann (McGuigan) Moran. He was the fourth of five children. The family moved to northern New Jersey in his younger years where he graduated from West Essex High School in 1979. He spent the majority of his life in New Jersey before retiring to Florida.

"Mike" became a police officer at the young age of 19. He dedicated 29 years of service to the West Caldwell and New York City Police Departments, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant. He was known for his hard work, integrity, and compassion for helping those in need.

He was a devoted husband to his wife, Renee, for 36 years and a proud father of four children: James, Daniel, John, and Michaela. He cherished his family more than anything. Known for his selflessness, he was a lifelong provider, protector, and caretaker right up until his passing.

He enjoyed the New York Yankees, sitting by a fire on a cold night, trips to St. Pete Beach, cruises later in life with his wife, and above all else: spending quality time with family, friends, and his dog, Louie.

Predeceased by his parents, James and Ann Moran; his brother, John J. Moran; and his sister, Eileen E. Casolaro. He is survived by his wife, Renee M. Moran; his son, James P. Moran and his wife, Ashley; his son, Daniel J. Moran; his son, John J. Moran and his fiancée, Tristen; his daughter, Michaela A. and her husband Austin Bynon; his sister, Mary Esposito; and his sister Nancy Hopkins.

Visitation will be held on February 26, 2026, at Curlew Hills Funeral Home at 9:00 am. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on the same day at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to: Tunnel to Towers Foundation (https://t2t.org/donate/) or Chicago English Bulldog Rescue (https://ebullymatch.com/donate/).
