Michael Morris passed away peacefully after a long illness.

Michael, aka Big Mike was born and raised in Meriden, Connecticut. After graduating high school, he moved to Worcester, Massachusetts. He became a professional taxi/limo driver living and working in Worcester, Natick, Nantucket Island and Aspen Colorado.

Michael eventually settled in Mystic, Connecticut, where he lived for over 20 years in a studio cottage he shared with his dog Hopper. When Hopper passed away, Mike got his fur fix by dog walking through Rover. During the pandemic he was furloughed from his job as a dealer at Foxwoods and began caring for dogs full-time.

Mike developed many passions over the years, he skied, biked, was a scuba diver, kayaked, and even in poor health, recently took up golf! There were two passions that took over every other one in his life - they were what he lived for, and those were dogs and the New England Patriots.

Whether at home, on the trails at the dog park or driving around in his "dog taxi" Michael was rarely without a pack of dogs.

Mike was a diehard Patriots fan, holding season tickets for many years. He wanted to see every NFL stadium and traveled to many away games in an effort to achieve this.

Michael is survived by his sisters Marie (Re) Crusberg, Pat Morris-Wolfe, Antoinette (Bink) Cullen and Annie Allison; his brothers-in-law Ted Crusberg and Tom Wolfe; nieces Heidi Crusberg, Gretchen Crusberg, and Arielle Cardinal and nephews Michael Crane, Nils Crusberg, Jesse Wolfe, Joe Cullen and Eric Morris. He is also survived by several great nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Antoinette Morris, his brother Tom Morris, a sister Carol Crane-Dupre, a nephew Steven Crane and his brother-in-law Richard (Dick) Dupre.

Michael's life was a testament to his adventurous spirit, his caring nature, and his passion for life. He is missed by many two legged and many more four legged friends and family.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at the dog park as soon as the weather allows. Email [email protected] to be updated on the plans.

To honor Michael's passion for dogs, please consider a contribution to Mona's House, a place for homeless pets, in Groton, CT.
