I attended Mike Morrison's funeral on 8 August 2016. Bernard Gorup, his old boss, gave us a great eulogy about Mike. I would like to offer these words as my eulogy.

I met Mike 35 years ago, when I started working the Corps of Engineers, when I was working as archeologist. I used his expertise in historic preservation architecture. He previously worked for the National Park Service in St. Louis on Historic Architecture. I thought he was a knowledgeable and helpful man in my work at the Corps.

I got to know him better over the years. I bought a house near him (and Donald Chong, another fellow employee the Corps of Engineers) and both he and Don welcomed me into the neighborhood. They were both very kind to me over the years.

What I particularly remember about Mike was his kindness. I remember him sitting when one of his infant children was crying and he would hold that child and kept repeating over and over again "you're okay! you're okay" in a quiet reassuring manner. He was patient and kind in stressful situations. I thought he was a very good father and a good husband. I was always impressed with how he treated his family. I remember Linda telling me that he was an easy man to live with.

Mike and Linda welcomed me into their house when I first to Omaha. I got to meet them and later their kids as their children came along. I love spending evenings sitting with them in their kids and just talking.

Anybody who knew Mike was the recipient of 1000 small kindnesses from him. He was very good to those people around in a way that was simple, direct and he really didn't expect anything in return. It was a kindness to help him back (I helped him and Linda move their house twice!) because he was always welcoming for help and very grateful.

When I moved into the neighborhood with him I remember I didn't have enough money to buy a lawnmower. Mike loaned me his lawnmower; once a week I go over to his garage, drag out his lawnmower, cut my lawn and then bring i

Jean, Carol, Mark & Scott,

Just saw that Mike passed away and just wanted to pass along my condolences and sympathy to you all. The last time I saw him was at his house on Shirley St. in Omaha with you '41? Chevy couple parked in the driveway. I think we were garage sale hopping. I hope the rest of you are all well. I thought of Jean the other day as I was making scrabbled eggs with cheese ! (a bunch of kids from UNL were at the lake for the weekend and that was the first time I had them).

Praying that God's peace will comfort you all.

Mike was always friendly to me, even though I am an engineer and land surveyor. He was a genuine, and generous, person. I hadn't seen him since I retired, and was shocked to see the obituary. He was a good guy. Do you want memorials to the church and/or any other local organization?

Eternal rest grant unto Mike, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of the faithful departed, though the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen

"Uncle Mike" was a great guy who showed me great friendship and welcomed me into the family. We spent many a great time at Husker games and family get togethers. I truly will miss him.

Dear Linda and family,
Debbie and I are so sorry for your loss. Mike was a good friend that was always there to listen or to help, even without asking. No matter how late he worked at either of his jobs, or the difficult night he spent helping an accident victim, he was back in the morning with a friendly smile. I personally will miss the many lunches we had together and the many talks we shared. Sadly, it was because Mike was always there that I assumed he always would be. He will be greatly missed.
