Michael Louis Murphy, born on April 27, 1952, in New Albany, Indiana, passed away on August 4, 2025. Mike was known for his passion for music, demonstrating significant talent as a singer and guitarist throughout his life. His love for music was a defining characteristic, bringing joy to those around him and creating lasting memories with every song. Mike always enjoyed taking care of people during his 12 years working on the ambulance.
Mike cherished his time spent with family. He is survived by his sisters, Donna (Ray) Naville and Dilla (Gordon) Lopp, along with his cherished nieces and nephews who will fondly remember their Uncle Mike for his infectious spirit and musical gifts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Murphy and Helen Cook Murphy, and by three of his sisters: Patricia Wright, Carolyn Ferguson, and Alice Ruoff.
The legacy of Michael Louis Murphy will be remembered through the music he loved and the family he treasured, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
A Memorial Gathering will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Memorial Service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, at the funeral home. Cremation was chosen following Mike's wishes and he will be laid to rest privately at Fairview Cemetery.
