Michael Lynn Murphy, Sr. from Newport, Ohio born to George R. Murphy and Ruby Henrietta Tice Murphy Brown March 4, 1952, passed away on July 14, 2023. He was proceeded in death by his father George Murphy, sisters Cathy Fairbanks, Carol Clift and grandson Nick Murphy.
Mike was born in Marietta, Ohio and lived local most of his life while making a family, and acquiring many friends. He worked on and drove trucks for Murphy Trucking and many local trucking companies. He was a proud member of Valley View Baptist Church in Reno. As a young man he went to Reno Grade School and later graduated from Marietta High School. Michael retired from Teamsters Local 175.
He is survived by his mother Ruby Murphy Brown. Sons Michael Lynn Murphy, Jr (Ginger), Shane Murphy (Teresa), Chad Murphy and daughter Amanda Murphy. Grandchildren Michael Lynn Murphy III (Tessa), Ethan Grant Eddy, Grace Jones (Brandon), Mitchell Murphy, Marshall Murphy, Haley Murphy (Buck), and Joshua Murphy. Great-grandchildren Hayley, Emma, Isabelle, Evelyn, Oliver, and Declan Jones. Brothers Roger Murphy (Mary Ann), Jim Murphy, and sister Cindy Stewart (Ed).
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 10 AM at East Lawn Memorial Park. A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held Friday, July 21 at Jim's Riverbank at noon.
