Michael P. Murray, 67, of Stowe, formerly of Norristown for 60 years, died suddenly on June 21, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Gail E. (Paskel) Murray for over 46 years. He was born in Norristown, PA on August 16, 1955 to the late John J. Murray Jr., and Sophia (Burry) Murray. Michael was a graduate of Eisenhower High School class of 1973 and attended Montgomery County Community College. Michael worked for Sherwin Williams formerly MAB Paints in Logan Square Shopping Center in Norristown for 41 years. In addition, he worked part time at Genuardi's in the deli department for almost 10 years.
Michael was an avid fisherman and was a wonderful husband and father and he went out of his way to help anyone in need. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling up and down the east coast with his family. He was an amateur CB radio operator his entire life, and a hockey and soccer player in his younger years. In the 70's Michael was the first Irishman to play soccer for the LAM Italian soccer team. Michael along with his ice hockey buddies were the founders of the "Hamilton Blades Ice Hockey Club" in Norristown. Michael was a charter member of the "Ancient Order of Hibernians" Notre Dame Division 1 Montgomery County, where he cherished many good times with good friends. He was a drummer with Irish Thunder Pipes and Drums band for over 20 years, performing in many parades and events nationally and internationally traveling to Ireland 4 times with the band. He also had the great privilege of playing the drums with his daughter Kaitlyn and his brother Bernie in Irish Thunder. He was an animal lover, especially of his dogs and cats, and enjoyed gardening and caring for his rose bushes and vegetable garden. He loved to watch sports including the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, and the Union.
In addition to his wife Gail, he is survived by 3 daughters Jayme Lynne Murray & fiancé William Paul Blanton of Norristown, Ashley Ryan Murray Sees and Leslie of Stowe, Kaitlyn Jamison Murray of Norristown, his brothers Patrick Murray and Connie of Ambler, Dennis Murray, and Knute Murray both of Norristown and sister-in-law Lin Murray of East Norriton, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Bernie Murray and John J. Murray, III and sister In-law Donna Murray.
To my fishing buddies a fond farewell "Play safe, Play well, and Fish when you can".
To my CB radio buddies farewell "This is SI61 the original operator signing off from the meltdown state. The only state that glows in the dark. Hello Goodbye. Now that's what happened and I'm sticking to the story."

I traveled to Ireland with Mike and his brothers on Irish Thunder´s trip to the Irish Pipe Band Association competition at Kilkenny Castle in 2000. It was great-and to this day, memorable-to have seen Ireland through their eyes. God bless you, Mike.
