Ingram Funeral HomeMichael Patrick O'Byrne, age 70, of Cumming, Georgia, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025.
Born on February 13, 1955, in Camden, New Jersey, Michael was the beloved son of Albert and Anne O'Byrne. He began his professional journey with the Geological Survey before embarking on a long and respected career in printing ink sales, proudly following in his father’s footsteps. Albert O'Byrne was a founding member of the Atlanta Printing Ink Association, and Michael not only carried forward that legacy—he led it, serving as President of the Atlanta Printing Ink Association during his distinguished career.
Michael’s life was rich with passions and pursuits. A lifelong lover of baseball, he spent years coaching Little League, shaping young athletes with patience and heart. He was also a devoted Atlanta Braves fan, rarely missing a game and always cheering them on with unwavering loyalty. His love for golf was equally strong—he won the championship held in honor of his father, a moment of deep personal pride. He found joy in camping, reading, and deep-sea fishing, and had a special fondness for classic Westerns, especially those starring John Wayne.
Michael also had a deep appreciation for classic rock music and spent many memorable nights attending concerts by legendary artists such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eric Clapton, and Tom Petty. The energy of live music, the soul of guitar solos, and the camaraderie of fellow fans brought him immense joy throughout his life.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Janice O'Byrne; his children, Nicholas (Lauren) O'Byrne and Leslie (Heath) Hinds; and his cherished grandchildren: Hatcher, Scarlett, Hayes, Reece, and Holland. He also leaves behind his loving siblings: Patti O'Byrne, Kathy (Robert) Jones, Carolyn (John) Bennett, and Joanne (Greg) Miller, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Anne O'Byrne, and his in-laws, Ronald and Leslie Southworth.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Browns Bridge Church in Cumming, Georgia. Flowers are welcome and may be sent to the church or directly to the family.
Michael’s legacy lives on in the laughter of his grandchildren, the stories he shared, and the lives he touched. He will be remembered for his warmth, his wit, and the quiet strength that made him a cornerstone of his family—and a respected leader in his field. His voice may no longer echo in the stands, but his spirit will always be part of every Braves game, every guitar riff, and every sunset on the water.
“You and I will meet again, when we’re least expecting it… I won’t say goodbye, my friend.”— Tom Petty
