Michael O'Sullivan, 79, of Eddyville, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Mahaska Health Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
Michael James O'Sullivan Sr., son of Marvin James and Inez Marie (Barnhouse) O'Sullivan, was born July 22, 1945, in Ironton, Missouri. He grew up in Doe Run, Missouri, and graduated from Farmington High School. He entered the Army on June 9, 1964, and was discharged on May 31, 1967, after serving in Vietnam. He returned to Farmington briefly before moving to the Oskaloosa area. He initially worked at John Morrell & Company in Ottumwa. On September 12, 1969, he married Gloria Kaye DeGeus, and they made their home in Eddyville. In 1973, Mike began working at Clow Valve Company in Oskaloosa and retired in 2009 after serving the company for 38 years. After his retirement, he went to work for the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont School System as a bus driver, an occupation he truly enjoyed. He retired for the second time in 2020.
Mike was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 74 of Eddyville, Kaaba Shriners Hospital, Knights Templar No. 68 of Albia, Triad Council No. 46, and Monroe Chapter No. 125. He was also a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, fishing, camping, and driving his 1964 Ford Galaxy in his spare time.
His family includes Gloria, his wife of 55 years; a daughter, LaDonna Webster of Eddyville; a son, Michael (Cari) O'Sullivan Jr., of Altoona; four grandchildren: Calvin Webster and KayeLynn Webster, Connor and Carter O'Sullivan; and a great-grandson, Bentley O'Sullivan. He is also survived by three sisters, two brothers, and two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Ransford and Ginger Schneider, both of Eddyville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Ward Ransford and Steve Schneider.
A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Langkamp Funeral Chapel. A private family graveside service will be held at Highland Cemetery in Eddyville with Military Honors by the Oskaloosa Honor Guard.
