James E. Boyd, age 87, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, passed away on September 19, 2025, at the MHP Hospital in Oskaloosa. He was born on June 16, 1938, in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Ethel Mae Boyd. He attended school in Roseville, Illinois. On July 9, 1960, he was united in marriage to Linda Lindberg in Monmouth. They were blessed with five children: Kenny, Bill, Brenda, Karen, and David.

James worked as a mechanic at a Chevrolet dealership for several years in Roseville, Illinois before going to work at Phillips 66 service station in Smithshire, Illinois for 17 years until retiring. He enjoyed watching wrestling, staying in touch with his family as well as always remembering everyone's birthdays making sure to send a card or make a phone call and always enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

James is survived by his children, Kenny (Melba) Boyd of Florida, Bill (Karen) Boyd of Kellogg, Brenda Jordan of Oskaloosa, Karen (Steve) Heartley of Centerville, and David Boyd of Oskaloosa; nine grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda, and his mother, Ethel.

As was James wish, cremation will take place, and a private family burial will take place at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
