Michael Thomas Pace was born December 1, 1957 to the Late Thomas and Catherine Pace in Newark, NJ. He departed this life on June 12, 2025 at Alaris Health Belgrove in Kearny, NJ.
Michael was educated in the Newark Public School System and graduated from Newark Tech High School where he majored in Automotive Mechanics.
Michael was formerly employed at South Mountain Healthcare and Rehab Center in Vauxhall, NJ. He was also employed with the Newark Pre-School Council until he retired.
In the 1970's, Michael was a Conga player with a (neighborhood) band called "The Black Water Express". He loved listening to Oldies, Blues, R&B and Gospel music. He enjoyed BBQ cookouts, fishing, walking, Sci-fi movies, going to classic auto-car shows, and the Hayes Homes Reunions.
Michael was an avid collector of Hot Wheels Die-Cast cars, having over 400 to his collection. His love of cars dates back to when he was young. As he grew up, he began fixing his friends and neighbors cars. To his friends, he was known as "Mike the Mechanic".
Michael was passionate about worshipping, serving and praising the Lord. He enjoyed reading his Bible every day and was able to quote biblical scriptures and explain the meaning of the scriptures.
Michael was baptized at Calvary Gospel Church in Newark, NJ and was a faithful member for 30 years. He was a member of the Gospel Adult Choir, an ordained deacon and attended Sunday School regularly. He later became a member of the Saint James AME Church in Newark, NJ.
Michael was a kindhearted soul with an amazing spirit. He was pleasantly easy to approach and talk to; friendly, cordial and warmly polite. Michael was an affable and courteous gentleman.
He leaves his memories to be cherished by: his beloved sisters, Gail J. Pace and Marcia M. Pace-Lacewell; one brother, Barry V. Pace of Newark, NJ; two aunts, Hazel Napier-Leonard of Tallahassee, Florida and Irene Griffin of Mulberry, Florida; one uncle, De Leon Pace, Retired Master Sergeant, U.S. Marine Corp. (Barbara) of Summerville, South Carolina; and one Godson, Alexander Isaac of Newark, NJ; along with a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
