Michael Parks

Michael Parks, age 59, of Centerburg, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, January 26, 2026, at Knox Community Hospital.

Michael was born on April 2, 1966, in Steubenville, Ohio. Throughout his life, he participated in Day Hab programs at Whetstone Industries in Mount Gilead, MARCA in Marion, and CLW in Centerburg, where he also had vocational tasks. Most recently, Michael was involved with Day Hab programming at Dreamshine in Sunbury. He genuinely looked forward to his time there and deeply cherished the friendships and connections he formed along the way.

Michael made his home with ResCare Community Living in Centerburg, where he was surrounded by care, comfort, and people who understood him. He was happiest relaxing in his recliner, listening to music, wrapped snugly in his fuzzy blankets. Michael was extremely smart, wonderfully laid-back, and a world-class people watcher. He enjoyed trips to McDonald's and was known for his strong will and unmatched determination. A true master of schemes, if Michael wanted something, especially something he probably wasn't supposed to have, he always found a way. His bright blue eyes and distinctive laugh had a way of lighting up every room.

Michael will be deeply missed by his guardian, friend, and fiercest advocate, Traci Pigg; his caseworker, trusted voice, and friend, Amanda Whitt; his group home manager, Kaitlyn; his longtime nurse, Kristy; and the dedicated direct support professionals who played such an important role in his life: Brenda, Manny, Richie, and Josh. He is also fondly remembered by the many caregivers he had over the years and everyone blessed enough to be a friend.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Michael's life during visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Snyder Funeral Homes, Mount Gilead Chapel, 67 N. Main Street, Mount Gilead, Ohio 43338. In honor of Michael's love for all things cozy, guests are encouraged to dress comfortably, wear a fuzzy shirt or socks, or even come wrapped in a favorite fuzzy blanket.
