Michael Guy Phillips, a resident of Rison, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025 at the Green House Cottages of Southern Hills in Rison. He was born to Guy & Evelyn Rodgers Phillips
on April 14, 1951 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents Guy and Evelyn Rodgers Phillips, brother-in-law Jimmy Floyd, and granddaughter Lexi Mitchell.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years Peggy James Phillips, sons Brian Phillips (Michelle), Chanse Phillips (Christy), Tony Fisler (Wendy), and daughter Amanda Mitchell (Chance). Eleven grandchildren,Taylor (Seth), Rowdy, Bryce, Weston, Dylan, Shyanne, Kendal, Brooke, Kenzie, Troy, Dani, and two great grandchildren, Quinn and Livie. Brothers Jim Phillips (Ruth), John Phillips (Christine), Roy Phillips, and sisters Willie May Floyd and Lucille Strawn. Michael also had many nieces, nephews, and extended family that he loved dearly.
He was a kind and selfless man whose family meant the world to him. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved hunting with his grandchildren. Michael was a proud grandfather and enjoyed going to all of his grandchildren's sports activities and dance recitals. He was a truck driver for KP Carriers for 16 years and Tyson for 19 years before he retired. He was a member of the Arkansas Army National Guard for 8 years.
Michael's absence will be deeply felt by his family and friends and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
There will be a memorial and celebration of life held at Zion Missionary Baptist Church in the Toledo community on Wednesday, March 19 at 2 pm. Flowers can be sent to Zion Missionary Baptist Church - 160 Old Mt Elba Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Zion Church at P.O. Box 521 Rison, AR.
