Michael V. Pinelli passed away on March 12, 2021 at the age of 91, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House after a period of declining health. He was born on December 29, 1929 in the North End of Boston to the late Sabino and Grace (Lanza) Pinelli. Mike graduated from Boston College High School, Boston College and the Boston University School of Law. He also proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard. Mike was a member of the Massachusetts Bar for 64 years, practicing initially in Boston before moving his practice to Stoneham in 1965. Although his practice included many different facets of the law, he very much enjoyed criminal work and was happiest in the courtroom rather than in the office. When his practice allowed, Mike could be found on the golf course and especially in the woods of New England during the hunting season. He was a past President of the Bear Hill Golf Club and the Massachusetts Deer Hunter's Association. Mike was the past Vice President of the Salem Country Club, a member of the Justinian Law Society and a Past Grand Knight of the Stoneham Council Knights of Columbus. Mike leaves behind his beloved wife Joan Pinelli. He is the proud father of four children and two stepchildren: daughter Janice Jones and her husband Tom, son Michael and his wife Melissa, daughter Karen Chipman and her husband Dave, stepson Joseph DeSciscio and stepdaughter Regina Capobianco and her husband Christopher. Mike was devastated when he was predeceased by his beloved daughter Elaine Tofuri and he is survived by her husband Chuck. Mike is the loving grandfather of Michael Jones and his wife Rebecca, Christopher Jones and his wife Kristen, Anthony Tofuri and his wife Kristy, Andrea Evans and her husband Grant, Courtney Pinelli, Nicholas Pinelli and his fiancé Taylor, Alexandra Baker and her husband Christopher, Kurt Chipman and his wife Melissa, Sarah Chipman and Vincenzo and Isabella DeSciscio. He has a special love for his great grandchildren, Lillian and Stella Jones, Evan and Landon Jones, Holly and Theo Tofuri. Mike was thrilled to recently be introduced to his seventh great grandchild by Andrea and Grant via sonogram. Mike is also survived by his sisters Mildred Campo and her husband Joseph and Evelyn Anderson. He was predeceased by his loving sister Grace Piccolo and her husband Frank. He is also survived by close friends Tom Zazzara, Barbara Sterner and Mario Patalano. Mike's family would like to thank the tremendous caregivers and staff at Care Dimensions and the Kaplan Family Hospice House for the wonderful care he received. Family and friends are cordially invited to a Funeral Mass Celebrating Mike's Eternal Life on Monday, March 22nd at 10am in Saint Patrick Church, 71 Central St. STONEHAM. In lieu of flowers please consider making donations in Mike's memory to the Kaplan Family Hospice House c/o Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, B-102, Danvers, Massachusetts 01923 or by referring to https://www.caredimensions.org/giving/ For more information, www.facebook.com/BarileFamilyFuneralHome

Do sorry you hear of Mike’s passing. I grew up with his son Mike and loved my Sundays at their house eating Italian food and dancing.

He was a kind and generous man and raised a great family!

RIP Mr. Pinelli!

To a tough competitor in the courtroom. You knew you were up against one of the best Defense Attorneys around so you better be prepared for every question. You made me do a better job. Additionally, we were friends "off" the court as well. Sincerely,
Det. George Alger

Mike: If you can read these words with your new Infinite Mind which may be very difficult to 'match' the one you worked with among us 'down here'; I wish you to know how much this Community of Stoneham in which you lived for decades appreciates the love and life you gave to us. You aided many outwardly and often very secretly in our personal and business lives. You , in your presence gave us hope we did not realize we had available to us and often for 'Free' because you Cared. "Mike Pinelli's' life was respected and depended on. Your sense of humor among turmoil and smooth times was energizing and beloved. Down Here Mike we , who know you and have been Blessed by your heart and mind want you to know you are respected and remembered as a 'Favorite Son' of Stoneham, Mass. RIP wonderful Man. We'll see you soon. Frank and Rose Pignone
