Michael Pippenger, 58, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown, MD. Born on November 5, 1966, in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late James M. Pippenger, and was raised by his grandparents, the late Harry F. and E. Theola Honodel. He met his wife, Lori, and was married on September 23, 1988.
Michael attended Waynesboro Area High School, where he was involved with wrestling and football, and graduated in 1985. He liked to watch his favorite football team, the Washington Redskins, play. Pip also liked to go hunting, fishing, and boating with his uncle in his free time as well as tying flies during his teen years. He liked to fix things, which made him a “Jack of all Trades” around the house, and to cook and make breakfast for Lori in the morning. He also enjoyed helping his grandparents on the family farm as well as hunting for mushrooms.
Michael worked for Cavetown Construction; Washington Township Maintenance Dept.; and Wishard’s Garage in Zullinger as a licensed mechanic. Then in 2002, he and his wife moved to Chambersburg where he received training as a diesel mechanic and earned his CDL license. He then drove for DM Bowman Trucking; Dave George Transportation; A Duie Pyle Trucking; and eventually, he became a commercial run driver for Ontime Express.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lori Pippenger; his aunt Debby (John) Hampton; five cousins, Richard (Anne Marie) Ridge, FL; Rebecca (Ty) Smetzer, Waynesboro; John (Quinn) Hampton, Waynesboro; Jerry (Wendy) Hampton, Waynesboro; and Eric (Kelli) Hampton, Waynesboro.
Pip is preceded in death by his father, James M Pippenger; his grandparents, Harry F. and E. Theola Honodel; his aunts, Peggy (Jack) Rogers, Patsy (Tom) Ridge; and his uncle, Robert (JoAnn) Honodel.
He was a very caring person and liked helping others. His family and friends, along with his cats, Twister and BooBoo, will miss him dearly.
