Michael Piren, age 80, passed away peacefully at his home in
Hampton, New Jersey, on February 21, 2026.
Born on November 14, 1945, in New York City, Michael was the beloved son of the late Anne (Slavkin) Piren and Michael Piren. He was raised in New Jersey and graduated from Metuchen High School before continuing his education at Salem University in West Virginia
Mike devoted his professional life to serving others. For over 40 years, he worked at Perth Amboy High School as a special education teacher, where he made a lasting impact on countless students and families through his patience, compassion, and unwavering belief in every individuals potential. In addition to his career in education, Michael was a successful entrepreneur and proudly owned and operated Pirens Jewelers in Metuchen, New Jersey, a business well known in the community for its quality craftsmanship and personal service.
Above all else, Michael treasured his family. A natural storyteller and playful prankster, he had a gift for making people laugh and feel at ease. He loved sharing memories, telling stories, and bringing smiles to those around him. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Mike enjoyed playing football and running track in his youth and remained an avid follower of football, basketball, and track throughout his life. He was a devoted New York Giants fan.
Mike was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Patricia Trish Piren, and by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Karen Piren, whom he married on May 9, 1971; his daughters, Elizabeth Piren and Kristine Piren, and their husbands, Wender and Steve; and his cherished grandchildren, Cameron (19), Dylan (13), and Jordan (10), who brought him immense pride and joy.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, located at 1761 Route 31, Clinton NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of St. Ann, located at 32 Main Street, Hampton NJ 08827. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
If you cannot attend the services, all are welcome to join the family for a celebration of Mikes life, on Saturday after the funeral mass from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Chalet, located at 154 NJ 173, Asbury NJ 08802.

Michael will be remembered for his generous heart, his sense of humor, his devotion to family, and the countless lives he touched as an educator, mentor, and friend.
