Obituary
Michael A. Pitch, of Pine Beach, New Jersey, passed away on October 22, 2023. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was raised in Bloomfield, New Jersey, then lived many years in the Oranges, as well as New City, NY before settling in Pine Beach, NJ in 1985. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Seton Hall University and then earned a Master's Degree from Newark State College. He was employed as Superintendent of Schools by the South Bound Brook Board of Education, then by the Seaside Park BOE, and finally with the Riverdale BOE. After his career in education, Michael was employed as the Director of Public Relations at Admiral Farragut Academy with the rank of Commander. He served as the secretary of the Alumni Association as well as the Parent Association, and organized a Boy Scout chapter with the students of Farragut. When AFA closed, Michael began his third career in 1995 as a Supervisor of Human Resources at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson where he worked until his retirement in 2007.
After retiring, Michael remained active in education through his involvement with the Ocean County Vocational Technical School as a chairman of the Advisory Council and as a member of the Foundation Committee. He also served his community as a Committeeman and a Municipal Chair for Pine Beach. Michael, in his diversified interests participated in Bible Study classes at St. Barnabas Church.
Surviving is his beloved wife, Susan Pitch, his brother-in-laws, Robert DiGenno and his wife Anne Marie, and Thomas DiGenno Sr., and his wife, Diane, his niece Andrea, his nephews, Thomas Jr, and his wife, Roni, James DiGenno, John Frondi and his wife Patty and Frank Frondi and his wife Candy, and his nine great nieces and nephews, as well as many extended family members and friends.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville, NJ 08721. A 9:30 a.m. viewing in the funeral home will precede an 11 a.m. funeral Mass at Saint Barnabas Church in Bayville.
