Heaven just gained a gardener with the passing of Anthony Joseph Pitch (August 23, 1941- November 12, 2025). A loving husband, father and grandpa always devoted to his family as he lived each day loving his wife ElfieJean Marie (née Sherbrook). They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary together July 15, 2025. Dad was very proud of his 8 kids and 12 grandkids. As an avid gardener he planted a large garden on his beloved farm in Mills township every summer. On weekends Dad could often be found at local farm auctions where he loved to find a good deal. Collecting most anything old including guns, tools and 7-UP memorabilia was one of his favorite hobbies. The family farm was heated by the wood he cut on the family property. Being a strong and hardworking man of integrity, he was proud of being 100% Polish. Dad was born to Louise (née Czuba) and Joseph Pitch in a relative's home near their family home on Bay City Road. He grew up there with his 5 siblings attending St. Anthony's Catholic Church in nearby Fisherville. From childhood Dad always had a strong faith in the Lord. During the first 36 years of his life, he lived and worked mostly in the neighborhood and surrounding area where he grew up. Dad attended Forest Elementary School which was across the road from his home, Northeast Middle School the year it opened and the brand-new Midland High School graduating in 1959. Dad began working for a builder in his neighborhood at the age of 14 then worked at Stasik's Market and Auburn Diecast. Mom and Dad met at the Midland County Fair through mutual friends. He said that when he first laid eyes on her he thought that she looked like an angel. It was love at first sight. She was the only girl that he ever dated. They married on July 15, 1960. In 1964 he began working for 7-UP as a truck/delivery driver which he did for 38 years retiring in 2002. Dad is survived by his wife ElfieJean. Kids: Lorena Pitch, Emily (Mike) McMenemy, Sara Pitch, Ted Pitch, Michelle (Clayton Keyser) Sutton, Darek (Crystal) Pitch, Kayla (Billy) Jones and Molly Pitch. Grandkids: Matt, Jimmy, Ian, Ellie, Jack, Jordyn, Angela, Niklaus, Eloise, Graham, Emma and Ethan. He is also survived by his siblings: Julie Schultz, John Pitch, Frank Pitch and Mark (Theresa) Pitch as well as many nieces and nephews and his "beloved" horse Moses. Dad was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary Hintz. A celebration of his life will be held on December 7, 2025, 1:00pm-4:00pm at Mills Township Community Hall, 2635 E. Shearer Road, Midland, MI 48642. A meal will be provided. Arrangements are under the care of Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. We love you Dad.
