Michael William "Mike" Plumer

Michael "Mike" William Plumer, 76, of Alexandria, VA passed away on June 14, 2025. He was born March 15, 1949, in Illinois, to Bruce and Mary Ann (Roberts) Plumer. Mike served in the United States Navy for over 20 years and worked as a basic Russian linguist as well as a cryptologic supervisor. He retired from the Navy in 1992 after receiving a National Defense Service Medal with bronze star along with many other medals and ribbons. He also worked for the National Association for Uniformed Services following his time in the Navy. On November 22, 2014, Mike married his wife, Deborah J. Lysaght, and they have resided in Alexandria since then. He enjoyed watching TV, car shows, camping and was also a big fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. Mike also loved Disney World and adored his cat, Tugger. He always enjoyed spending time with family and was extremely proud of his grandchildren and all their accomplishments.

Michael is survived by his wife Deborah J. Lysaght Plumer, children David Plumer (Kristen), Michael Plumer, Keith Plumer, Patrick Lysaght (Jasmine), Deborah Lineberry (Patrick) and Gary Lysaght (Nicole), along with 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Karyl (Plumer) Bruketa of South Eglin, IL and brother Robert Plumer (Joy) of Aurora, IL as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Bruce and his granddaughter Brittany Plumer.
