Michael D. Pritsiolas

Michael D. Pritsiolas, 89, of East Hanover, New Jersey, peacefully passed away at home while surrounded by his family on Sunday August 18th 2024.
Born in the village of Megalo Horio near Karpenisi in Greece, Michael emigrated to the United States at the age of 16 with his older brother John and settled in New York City. Armed with a rudimentary 8th grade education and only a minimal ability to speak English, he sacrificed his adolescence to work menial jobs while living in meager conditions so as to support his family in Greece. Following an introduction by his sister Eleni, Michael married Faye Kampas in 1970 and moved to Flushing, New York where he continued to work tirelessly and selflessly for the benefit of his wife and two sons until moving with his wife to East Hanover, New Jersey in 2014 to live closer to their children and families.
Michael is preceded in death by his brothers John and Kosta. Michael is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Faye (Kampas), sons, Dr. James Pritsiolas and his wife Dr. Michele and Dr. Leonidas Pritsiolas and his wife Melissa, and his grandchildren Max, Michaela, Josephine, Sadie and Frankie.
Michael is also survived by his sisters Eleni Caracostis of Knoxville, Tennessee and Anna Velentzas and her husband Nikolas of Athens, Greece. Michael also had many nieces and nephews throughout the United States and in Greece.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 10 - 11:00 a.m. at Ss. Nicholas, Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 80 Laurel Avenue, Roseland, N.J. 07068. A Funeral Service is planned for 11:00 a.m at the church. Entombment will follow at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, N.J. Memories and condolences may kindly be shared at shookscedargrove.com.
