Hello,
We wanted you to know that we will be honoring and remembering your loved one this holiday season. We have recently sent Care Packages to our deployed troops in his name. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Michael R. Adams US Army 1st Lieutenant.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, our family, friends and many others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

It's been 10 years today. Family and friends of LT Mike Adams have remembered his passing everyday since. In our own way, many of us relive that day over and over again. What to say on such an anniversary? What would you say? I will tell you that Mike has a great sense of humor. We always found time to laugh and joke about the "dangerous" missions we survived. Through adversity we found comfort in camaraderie and mission accomplishment. We would joke about it, then move on to the PlayStation 2 and dominate the platoon on Red Faction 2 and Tiger Woods 2003. I think the only time I really ever got upset with Mike is when he would win at anything we competed against (I was, and currently am, a sore loser). Thank you, Mike.
There isn't a single person that ever had the privilege of knowing Mike, that isn't grateful to this day for what Mike has given us. There are many of us, even outside of our unit, that have Mike to thank. Each of us does so in our own way. Whenever I see my family, I can't help but be thankful. So where to go from today forward? Mike always said "Never worry about the 'What-ifs', that's what drives people and planning crazy". A quote I've lived by since. For myself, I will always remember this day, 10 years ago, as the day we lost a great Son, Brother (now Uncle), and Friend. But I will focus more on the better times. The funnier times. The lighter side of our friendship. Mike is in Great company, and we should all be so jealous. :)

Dear family of Michael,When I saw his face my heart stopped. He has some of the same facial features my son has-had. The way his lip curls up when he smiles. And his eyes twinkle in the sunlight . Anyway I wish I could say I can't imagine how you fill but I do. I lost my son in Rhamadi during his 1st tour. And He like Michael didn't have to go back to Iraq because of an explosion he was in when he was in Rhamadi. But he refussed to stay behind. Where one goes we all go. He too had men under him that he felt responsible for. The only thing different is that he made his wife promise not to tell me he didn't have to go untill he returned. When the tour was over and every one was flying home, his seat was left empty. One of the guys finally said "I fill like I left Myles behind" and they all said so do I. He said they cried like a baby when they saw the coast of America. The co-pilot went sit with them and said you didn't leave him behind, he's already home. It's 6 years now. He was killed on Dec. 20, 2006. It's his birthday this month. I am having some bad moments. For the first three years I thought I'd died of a broken heart. Then his Marine brothers found me throuh Legacy and facebook and they helped me except his death. They don't even know this. Having them to call anytime I need to ask them something makes me fill close to Myles. I hope that you have been able to have contact with Michaels military brothers. They with out realizing it bring so much comfort to a broken and lost heart. They loved and took care of each other. They slept in the same rooms, ate all their meals together. They carried each other when they couldn't go any more. Sometimes they even read a letter from home when one was to tired to even see. Their was no secrets between each other but a trust they will never experience any other time or place in their lives. They may know know more about your loved one than you do. So they can calm and bring peace to your mind. They all made a solemn promise to find each others families and watch over them if something were to happen to them any way. So If you havn't had contact with any of the men michael served with or only a couple. Try and find others that served with your son. They will be so relived to fullfil there promise. Sometimes they just share stories of the crazy things that they did or the trouble they got into and it fills good to laugh. Knowing your son so well you can picture him in the stories and they give more good memories to hold onto.
My son was the best of me and sometimes I filled half whole so I go visit him and tell him how I'm feeling and ask him to help me find my way back.If you ever fill like talking or need some one to just listen, I'll be there for you day or night. Email me and give me your ph. number and I'll call you. After Myles died I went into seclusion. I felt more comfortable in a room full of strangers than being around my own family. That is something else D helpped me overcome. May God Bless and comfort you. my email address is [email protected]

I regret that I lost contact with Mike. We met while Mike was transmitting a CQ on the club radio at West Point back in 2000. Mike and I emailed one another for awhile but soon lost contact. I was going through my QSL cards and found the ones from West Point that Mike sent me. I thought I would look him up and discovered that he is a silent key.

There were many days that we wondered about life after Iraq. Your guidance made me the person and father that I am today. I can't thank you enough for getting our Platoon home safely, for that our love to you is eternal. I couldn't imagine my life if we never became friends. Because of you, Mike, I have a wonderful family and I know that you will look out for them everyday. My son was born 14 May 2008, he has your spirit. Look after my son, Grant Michael West, with the same diligence you gave to us in Iraq. You are always in the hearts and thoughts of my family and I. Until we laugh together again.

To the family of this fine man,
Words alone can never express the profound sadness I feel for you in the loss of your brave soldier. I wore his warrior in heaven bracelet for a year until it too was lost. My own piece of sorrow. Being retired military, my heart breaks for every family that has lost a loved one, and I and this nation owe you a debt of gratitude. I wish I could have known him. God bless you and may this brave warrior rest in peace.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To the family and friends
I have only just begun this journey and may not have known your loved one personally.
I extend to you my deepest condolences. No words will ever express the grief those close to this lost treasure are feeling. I can only say that I can share this grief as I too lost a loved one July 8, 2006. I will continue to pray for the safety of our soldiers and especially the family and friends of our lost hero’s. I only hope the memories will carry us through. I will continue pray that you also will believe and know that our heavenly father will not give us more than we can handle.
As always I read (and cry) through the memorials of our lost hero’s, So many people have already expressed the things I would also say. I am amazed and take comfort that so many people care. I can only thank you for the sacrifice you and especially Michael have made to protect our country. As others have said “I am only an email away.” I would be honored if you so choose to share about this fine hero.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

To the Adams family:
I knew Mike when he was a cadet in West Point. His roomate Ryan was a close friend of mine and I was a student in college in Westchester. I used to visit Ryan and Mike regularly. I would bake or cook some creation and we would sit for hours at the parade field bleachers talking, laughing and hanging out. Mike was a wonderful person. He was the type of person who would listen to you vent but give it to you straight. A respectable and rare trait. I had lost touch with Mike a few months after he graduated and I was devestated to learn the news of his death from Ryan last year. He will be missed greatly. My thoughts are with you. Please email me if you need anything.

A great wingman and friend. To all the times we had laughing while we were in dire straits. Without hesitation, our mission and our soldiers were always first. When we had time, we always talked about home and the people and food we missed:). And the laughter got us through it all. I took your advice and began training officers to be as good as you were.... You and your family will always be in our thoughts, thank you again for getting us home LT.

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

We met his Mom and Dad in Leavenworth, Washington State. Wonderful people who share Michael's love of this country and the opportunities it provides unmatched by any other country on earth. His sacrifice will never be in vain as long as we live to remember him. Blessings to the Adams'!

A true American hero. A great leader under fire who never rested until the mission was complete. A compassionate leader who always took care of his men. It was an honor and priviledge to have served and fought alongside such a great soldier.
