Michael James Redmond, of
Daytona Beach, Florida, was born on February 23, 1953, and passed away on January 30, 2026, in Daytona Beach, at the age of 72.
Mike grew up in the community he loved. He graduated from Mainland High School in 1971 and attended Daytona Beach Community College. As a teenager, he enjoyed bowling and surfing-interests that remained meaningful throughout his life.
Bowling was a lifelong passion and profession for Mike. He was a member of the Professional Bowlers Association and worked for many years in the bowling industry, where he was widely respected for his exceptional skill in lane maintenance. He worked on lanes for several men's and ladies' professional tournaments, earning a reputation for exceptional skill, meticulous precision, and unwavering pride in his work-widely regarded as among the very best in his field.
Mike also enjoyed golf and had a strong interest in the mental side of performance. He formed a meaningful friendship with Moe Norman, widely regarded as one of the greatest ball strikers in the history of golf, and gained insight into focus, consistency, and mindset-principles he thoughtfully applied to his bowling and professional work.
Mike loved the outdoors and found peace fishing, gardening, and being surrounded by nature. Animals were naturally drawn to him, and he moved through the world with a steady, respectful appreciation for living things. He was also deeply caring toward others, offering quiet, dependable support to family, friends, and neighbors whenever it was needed.
Mike and Nancy were together for 55 years, including 39 years of marriage, sharing a life defined by devotion, commitment, and compassion through both joyful and challenging times.
After retiring from the bowling industry, Mike found great joy in a second chapter of service at Pine Trail Elementary School, where he was affectionately known as "Mr. Mike." He deeply cherished being part of the school community and delighted in letting the pre-K students dye his hair green and orange for Halloween, willingly taking a seat on the plank of the dunking booth at the Fall Festival, giving hayrides to the pre-K classes from his tractor, and keeping a watchful-often humorous-eye on a mama bear and her cubs to ensure the campus stayed safe. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of belonging to everyone who knew him there.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Earl Redmond; his sister, Melody Kinney; and his brother, Jack Phelps.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy; his twin brother, Pat, and Pat's wife, Barbara, with whom Mike shared a lifelong bond marked by shared history, deep understanding, and unwavering presence; his brother, Barry, who worked tirelessly to care for him and ensure he was comforted and well nourished-never missing an opportunity to bring his favorite peach cobbler; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved deeply, including Heather, his niece who has been like a daughter to Mike and Nancy, along with her sons Joey and George Scudiero, who were in essence grandsons to Mike.
