William Nelson Obituary
Born on June 28, 1946, in Oneonta, New York, William was the son of Helene and William Nelson Jr. He spent his career as a dedicated roofer, proudly working in the trade for over 20 years. Following his retirement, William's strong work ethic and love for staying active led him to start his own landscaping company. In his free time, William enjoyed visiting the Daytona International Speedway, cheering on the Florida Gators during college football season, and watching the sunrise at the beach. He was also an avid country music fan-George Strait was always playing during his drives around town.
William is survived by his siblings Robert Nelson, Sue Nelson, Patricia Mesec, Karen Mark, Linda Nelson, Deborah Quick, and Douglass Nelson; his grandchildren Noah Hatfield and Brooke Hatfield; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helene Nelson; his beloved wife, Charline Carrier-Nelson; his sister, Ida Shambo; his son, Robert "Bo" Nelson; and his daughter, Tanya Marie Hatfield. William will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love for family, and his appreciation for life's simple joys. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A Graveside Committal, with family, will be held Thursday, January 22, 2026 2PM at Daytona Memorial Park, Daytona Beach, FL.
