Michael James Reilly

Michael James Reilly, born in St. Paul, Minnesota on October 26, 1944, died on his 79th birthday on October 26, 2023. A lifelong Des Moines resident, Mike spent his career in finance with Shearson and Morgan Stanley.
In 1975, Mike was one of the four founders of the Variety Club of Iowa, and Children's charity. He was the President of Variety International. Through his involvement in charities, his children learned empathy, kindness, perseverance and the importance of giving back to others.
His family will always remember Mike as a road trip enthusiast. He traveled the country and the world. Mike especially loved visiting his children and grandchildren in New York and California. More than anything else, Mike loved spending time with his family and friends. He coached baseball and other sports for his five children.
Mike is survived by his wife, Tina; his five children, Pat (Catherine Graziano), Sean (Rachel Courtney), Michael, Devon (Josh Renfree), and Katelin Powell (Bradford); his six grandchildren: Alex, Max, Finnbar, and Georgia Reilly, Eden and Josie Reilly; his step-children Justin Nisser (Britany) and Jessica (Aaron Stonehocker); his step- grandchildren, Wyatt Stonehocker and Colt, Kane and Mack Nisser;; his three siblings, Kevin Figg, Shaun (John) Fay, and Mark (Rocio) Reilly; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Patric and Gretchen Reilly.
