AUBURN: Michael T. Renihan, 66 of Auburn went to be with the Lord Friday, February 3, surrounded by his family in his home after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 42 years, Susan C. (Genberg) Renihan, five daughters; Michelle Varsani and her husband Pravin of Hampton, GA, Erin Peterson and her husband Cameron of Coram, New York, Krysten Andraka and her husband Andrew of Sumter, South Carolina, Aimee Renihan of Auburn and Renae Renihan of Auburn, and a son; Sean M. Renihan of Auburn, two brothers; Thomas D. Renihan and his wife Judith of North Port, Florida and James M. Renihan and his wife Lynne of Mansfield, Texas, three grandchildren; Avidan, Anjali & Talitha and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Patricia (Renihan) Gorman.
Michael was born in Worcester, son of Thomas D. and Lillian (Lindgren) Renihan. He was a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ at Chester Community Church and Grace Chapel in Spokane, WA and then at Heritage Baptist Church in Worcester for over 20 years. He also was a longtime adjunct history professor at Worcester State University. He was a graduate of Worcester State College and got his Masters degree at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida. He had a PhD from Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, UK. He enjoyed reading, writing, music, and good clean humor, especially puns.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 25, at 1:30PM in Immanuel Chapel, 38 Hopkinton Road, Upton. Burial will be private in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours but there will be a time after the memorial service for giving condolences to the family. Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street is directing funeral arrangements.
