Michael Ryan "Rex" Renninger, Sr., 57, of Connellsville, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2026 in Allegheny Health Network Forbes Hospital, Monroeville, PA in the arms of his loving wife. Mike was born on December 19, 1968, in West Chester, PA. Mike was the son of the late John H. Renninger, Jr., and the late Kate Francis Miller. He held certifications in IT support and computer repair and worked for IT companies such as CompuCom, Fujitsu, and 911 Nerds. He also repaired computers for family and friends. He was an Assistant Scout Master in the former Boy Scout Troop 101, a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, and he was a United Methodist Lay Leader. Mike is survived by his wife of 30 years, Debra 'Debbie' Smith Renninger, with whom he shared a love for supporting Susquehanna Service Dogs and various crafting endeavors. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Renninger, and her boyfriend, Eric Miller of Hilliard, OH, his son, Michael Ryan Renninger, Jr., and his wife, Izzy of Aliquippa. Additionally, Mike is survived by his stepmother Barbara Jackson of West Chester, PA, half-brothers, John Swartz (Trish) and James Hornberger (Kelly), half-sisters Peggy Whitman, Jacqueline Viebahn (Bill), and Michelle Giannini (Jeff) and their families. Stepbrothers Matthew Jackson and Brian Jackson, and stepsister Melinda Collins and their families. Mike is also survived by his cousin Shelly Carpenter (cousin-in-laws Shawnee Rigger and Nancy Roudelbush, and dear friends Joy, Lee, and Brad Sampey (Molly) and Beth Martin (Lee) and their sons Todd and Tanner. Mike leaves behind his beloved pets. In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Darlene Smith, who welcomed Mike into his heavenly home, his maternal and paternal grandparents. As well as numerous aunts and uncles. At Mike's request there will be no public viewing or services. A memorial service for Mike will be held at a later date. Private interment will be in Green Ridge Memorial Park. Debbie would like to thank Dave, Amy and Stephen of Brooks Funeral Home Inc. for their compassion, support and understanding over the past several months. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the funeral home. Mike fought a good fight, he finished his course and he kept his faith.
