Michael Dean "Mick" Rice passed away Monday, August 5, 2024, at St. Dominic Villa in Sinsinawa.
He was born on October 8,1951, in Lancaster, WI to Claudie and Eileen (Moore) Rice. Mick graduated from Lancaster High School in 1969 and was also a graduate of Southwest Technical College in Fennimore where he earned his degrees in graphic design and home inspection.
He was employed for many years at EMC in Fennimore as a graphic designer. He also worked at Gopher's cycle shop and most recently, Schurman’s Cheese Store in Dodgeville.
Mick enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and board games with family and friends. Mick especially loved fixing up his Harley and tinkering with other people’s motorcycles.
He had a love for Harley Davidson’s. Most who rode with him knew him as Dobe. He felt most at peace when he was on his Harley. He was thankful that the staff at St. Dominic Villa organized one last ride for him.
Mick had the greatest laugh on earth, especially when he’d get laughing so hard he’d cry. Usually, it was while Mick was telling us a story from his past. He had a knack for making you feel better about yourself and filling you full of encouragement. Mick was a gentle and calming presence with a heart of gold.
Survivors include his daughter Megan; granddaughter Immy; siblings: Claudette (Doug) Bendorf, Mary Lou (Dave) Gallinger-Oyen, James (Nate) Rice-Speilman, many nieces and nephews, and cousins that he loved so much.
Mick was preceded in death by his parents: Claudie and Eileen; brothers: Phil and Dan; brother-in-law: Daryl Gallinger; sister-in-law: Gloria Rice; grandparents: Victor and Ruth Moore as well as Claude and Ruby Rice.
