Michael Soule Rice

Michael Soule Rice, born on November 1, 1955, in Watertown, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, in Burlington, North Carolina, at the age of 70.

Michael was a dedicated and hardworking individual who spent 12 years as a Facilities Worker in Commercial Maintenance for Anthony and Company. His commitment to his work was matched only by his love for his family and his passion for life's simple pleasures.

He found joy in the beauty of nature, often enjoying vacations to both the beach and the mountains, where he could relax and appreciate the world around him. These trips were a testament to his appreciation for life's serene moments and his desire to share them with those he loved.

On February 14, 2004, Michael married Joan Hilliman in Burlington, North Carolina, beginning a new chapter filled with love and companionship. He embraced his role as a stepfather to Dana Maraschiello Knoop, Richard Maraschiello and his wife Marleen, Vincent Maraschiello and his wife Zane, and He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren, cherishing each moment spent with them.

Michael's faith was an important part of his life. He accepted Christ at his home church in Graham, North Carolina, which provided him with strength and guidance throughout his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Rice and Ruth Gray Rice, as well as his brothers, Stanley Rice and Randy Rice. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Joan, and a large, loving family who will miss him dearly.

In accordance with his wishes, no formal services will be held. Michael will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
