Michael Riddick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Congleton Funeral Home and Cremations - Greenville on Feb. 25, 2025.
Michael Lamot Riddick was born on October 28, 1953, in Hertford County, North Carolina, to the late Eddie and Elsie Riddick. He peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the Hospice House in Greenville, NC.
From an early age, Michael was a dedicated member of New Ahoskie Baptist Church in Ahoskie, NC. He completed his education and graduated from Ahoskie High School. On October 12, 1972, he joined the U.S. Army, proudly serving as a member of the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg, NC until his honorable discharge on October 7, 1976. Following his military service, Michael pursued his passion for truck driving, a career he cherished as he worked for various trucking companies throughout the years. He eventually retired from Associate Materials trucking company after a long and fulfilling career. In 1995, Michael moved to Greenville, NC, where he became a devoted member of Koinonia Christian Center Church under the leadership of Bishop Rosie S. O'neal.
Michael was known for his outgoing personality; he was a people person who never met a stranger. As a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, he brought joy to all who knew him. He found fulfillment in volunteering and serving others at the Joy Soup Kitchen and food bank. Michael had a deep appreciation for music, but his greatest love was for his wife, Rita. The couple united in marriage on July 11, 2009, sharing 15 wonderful years together.
Michael is preceded in death by his father, Eddie Riddick; mother, Elsie Riddick; daughter, Tamesha Jenkins Lassiter; and sister, Peggy A. Eford.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Rita C. Riddick of Greenville, NC; one granddaughter, Ja'Nea Jenkins of Ahoskie, NC; one grandson, Quayshawn Howington of Ahoskie, NC; three great-grandchildren, Logan Harrison, Quayshawn Howington, Jr., and Ariya Howington; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
