Michael A. Rieken, 71, of Pine City, MN, passed away peacefully at 7:36 pm on August 25, 2024 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Michael was born in St. Paul, MN on September 3, 1952. He was a long-time resident of Pine City, MN up until the final two years of his life when he and his wife Debbie moved to Pleasant Hill, Iowa to be close to their son Adam and their two grandchildren.
He married the love of his life Debbie Rieken (Owens) on November 25, 1992 in Pine City, MN. They raised their boys together and shared a lifetime of love and the joy of fishing.
Michael worked a variety of jobs as a hard-working, skilled laborer. He was an avid collector and fisherman. He loved spending time with his family and friends, from cookouts to watching the Minnesota Vikings and as of late the Iowa Hawkeyes. Michael found joy in country music and watching his grandchildren. Before his passing, he confirmed his faith and was baptized and we have peace knowing he is now free of pain.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Debbie Rieken; sons, Vern (Veronica) Burton of Champlin, MN, Adam (Kyla) Burton of Altoona, IA. His two grandchildren; Harrison Burton (5) and Hollyn Burton (2). He is also survived by his brothers; Thomas Traywick and Charles (Teresa) Pritchett of Hamilton, AL; his first wife, Treasure Saunders of AB and their grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Thomas Rieken; and a sister, Cherri Lynn Pritchett.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Voyageur Park in Pine City, MN. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a future designation. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at Holland-Coble Funeral Home.
