Michael Rimm Obituary
April 28, 1958 - January 9, 2026
Born in Atlantic City New Jersey.
Michael Rimm led a beautiful life, partnering in a wonderful marriage, raising two caring sons, both of whom followed Mike into health professions, and practicing medicine around the world.
Sadly, Mike succumbed to a rapidly advancing cancer, passing peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home.
His crowning achievement was his adoring family. He was a beloved and devoted husband, married for 46 years to Dr. Gabrielle Galler-Rimm. Mike was also a treasured, admired, and committed father to sons Adrian and Julian and a loving father-in-law to Brianne Bailey and future daughter-in-law Malia Nee.
With expertise in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry, and a distinctive background in family systems, Dr. Rimm was known as a dedicated and insightful clinician who worked tirelessly to help his patients achieve fulfilling lives. He and his wife partnered together in their clinical practice in Makawao, Hawaii.
Mike was an avid surfer and lover of music of all kinds, especially the Grateful Dead. He was a dreamer and lover of life's adventures and a student of people; He cherished his connections to his many extended family members and friends.
Mike, Dr. Rimm, husband, father, son, brother, family man - you will be sorely missed and never forgotten. Your love lives within us and your legacy endures.

Services will be limited to our immediate family.

I have known Michael since moving to Maui in 2016 and he has always been a refuge from whatever was going on in life. He was one of the only people I felt emotionally safe with and could open up to and talk to about anything. If I was on the other side of the country and lost my meds he would find a pharmacy near me and call a refill in. He made me feel safe to talk and I will deeply miss him.

I was deeply devastated and saddened to hear of Michael´s passing. Mike and I were roommates my sophomore year at UVM Strumming and Picking suite Living Learning Center. We shared a love for music,guitar, goofing around and laughing. The summer before Mike had found Gabi , the love of his life , at a marine biology summer course in PR. So from the moment I met him he was part of something bigger than him. Twas an honor to attend their wedding in San Juan in 1980. I have lifetime memories of that trip. If one can be judged by their friends and loved ones then Mike was a king of kings. Brilliant psychiatrist that brought my family great benefit during a crisis. I loved him like a brother even though we didn´t see much of each other in last few years. Will miss you Mike and much love and deep hugs to Gabi,Adrian and Julian
