Born on October 14, 1960, he was the youngest of twelve children to Carl and Inez (Freml) Rostermundt. Michael was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend, known for his sharp wit, quiet humor, and spirited personality.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Inez; siblings: Carole Chapman, Charles Rostermundt and Michele Olson; and brothers-in-law, Daryl Chapman and Tommie Lewis.

Michael attended school in Manilla, where he was active in high school sports, particularly baseball and basketball, and graduated with the class of 1979. After spending time in Albuquerque, where he worked as a groundskeeper at the University of New Mexico golf course, and in Council Bluffs doing construction with his brother Ken, Michael returned to school and earned his diploma in 1993 from Iowa Western Community College through the Parts Specialist program.
A skilled carpenter who inherited his talent from his father, Michael put his craftsmanship to use on numerous projects around the Manilla area. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed using his hands to build and repair. He also had a passion for the open road and especially loved riding motorcycles with friends, fondly recalling his trip to the Black Hills as one of his favorite adventures.
Michael will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
