Michael A. Rufo, age 94, of Chadds Ford, PA, passed away on December 24, 2024.
Born in Overbrook, he was the son of the late Luciano and Carmella (née Mascia).
Mike, affectionately known as “Broadway,” loved to sing. He won an award for best singer on his honeymoon at the Mount Airy Lodge and was often found singing karaoke with his family and friends. He was known for his meticulously kept hair, white belt and multiple fedoras to match the seasons, of course. He thoroughly enjoyed a good Italian meal (pasta on Sundays, always) and a Chocolate Junior Tastykake for dessert. Philly sports were his favorite, especially the Eagles and the Phillies. He was ecstatic that he got to see the Eagles win a Super Bowl (finally).
Above all else, he was a family man and was often known to toast, “It’s all about family! Cent’anni!” at family gatherings. He gave to multiple charities during his life, Amigos de Jesús in Honduras, being the most notable. He was lucky enough to be surrounded by the same love that he gave.
Mike was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lois (née Paolucci), with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. He is survived by his 4 children, Michael L. (Marcia), Cecelia (the late Mike), Thomas and Nancy (the late Paul) and daughter-in-law, Tina. He was a loving Pop-Pop, Old Pop-Pop and Poppo to his 10 grandchildren, Danielle (Craig), Nicole, Stephen, Michael G. (Julie), Justin, Meghan (John Ryan), Kayla, Michael J., Hannah and Janessa, and 7 great grandchildren, Alexa, Austen, Charlotte, Paul, Victoria, Nicholas and Penelope. Mike is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mike was predeceased by his siblings, Donata, Anthony, Daniel and Emily. He was also predeceased by many other family members and friends. We are sure it was a beautiful Christmas reunion in heaven between Mike and Lois, the love of his life.
Relatives and friends are invited to a service on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 11am at Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382. Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Amigos de Jesús, https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?id=6&name=E348221, would be appreciated.
