Deep River- Michael L Sauter was born July 19, 1935 on the family farm near Deep River, Iowa, the son of Michael F and Agatha (Wagner) Sauter. He graduated from Millersburg High School in 1953. He served in the United States Army. On June 18, 1960, Mick was united in marriage to Judith Ann Stake at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williamsburg. He was a life long farmer. Mick was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in North English, the Knights of Columbus, Cattlemen’s Board, Cattlemen’s Association and the Millersburg Legion #521. He enjoyed going to dances and spending time with his family. Mick died on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Brooklyn Community Estates in Brooklyn at the age of 87 years.
He is survived by two daughters Kristine (Dan) Burck of North English and Deborah Grimm (Randy Craft) of Rolfe; four grandchildren Alex (Kerry) Grimm, Aaron (Tonya) Grimm all of Williamsburg, Miranda (Scott) Ballard of Ladora and Spencer Burck of Fulton, MO; seven great grandchildren Regan & Makayla Grimm, Kaley, Brooklyn and Leland Grimm and Tyler and Travis Ballard. Also surviving are a sister Audrey Weldon of Williamsburg; and two sisters-in-law Marge Sauter of North English and Dee Dee Sauter of Williamsburg. He was preceded by his parents; wife Judy; great granddaughter Abigail Grace Grimm; brothers Claire, Jim, Paul and Kevin Sauter; and sisters Mary Kathleen Sauter, Barbara DeDecker, Joan Hadley and Kay Joens.
Funeral Mass will be held 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in North English. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 11:00 am until service time. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Essence of Life Hospice, Millersburg Community Center, Macular Degeneration or donor’s choice.
