Michael L. Schmalz, age 63 of Harbor Beach, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at McLaren Port Huron Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 5, 1961 in Harbor Beach, to the late Richard and Joyce (Christenson) Schmalz. Michael ran Schmalz Plumbing and Heating for many years. He and Sharon Smith were united in marriage on June 19, 1998 in Huron City. Michael was a member of the United Methodist Church in Harbor Beach. He loved everything with the sun, whether he was working on his landscaping in the yard, decorating for the holidays, or hanging out at the family fire pit. He was always a helping hand for everyone. He enjoyed drawing, and playing cards, and being with friends and family. Michael is survived by his wife Sharon Schmalz of Harbor Beach, son: Zachary Martinez of Attica, sister: Beth Welker of Harbor Beach, and brothers: Paul Schmalz (Special Friend Carol) of Floral City, FL, and Daniel Schmalz (Rory) of Aiken, South Carolina, nieces and nephews: Jennifer, Andrew (Stephanie), Maya, Jade, Leah, brothers and sisters-in-law: Pam (Michael) Semp of Harbor Beach, Susan (Robert) Lynch of Harbor Beach, Janet Smith (Greg Gerkin) of Harbor Beach, Mark (Kelley) Smith of Harbor Beach, Matthew (Diane) Smith of Lowell. He is also survived by many special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Richard & Joyce Schmalz, son: Gabe Martinez, and father and mother-in-law: Harold & Leah Smith. Funeral Services for Michael will be Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 11 am at the United Methodist Church of Harbor Beach, with Pastor Karen Kinney officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation for Michael will be on Monday, at the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach, from 2-8pm. Visitation on Tuesday, will be at the church, beginning at 10 am until time of services at 11 am.
