Michael Schue, 73, of Amherst, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, doing what he loved most, fishing in his peaceful, happy place at the Amherst Outdoor Life Association. Born September 7, 1951, in Lorain, Ohio, to James and Mercedes (née Kempt) Schue, Michael was a 1970 graduate of Lorain High School. He worked as a Stationary Engineer for Ohio Edison and Republic Steel, retiring in 2010. A member of Mary Mother of God Catholic Church in Lorain, Michael found joy in the outdoors-whether golfing, fishing, or simply watching squirrels and the beauty of nature. He shared his love of fishing with his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will live on for generations. Known for his kind spirit, kids and animals were naturally drawn to him. Family was the heart of Michael's life, especially his beloved wife, Deborah (nee Szabo) whom he affectionately referred to as "Babe" with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. Together, they enjoyed trips to Disney World, countless fishing adventures, and spontaneous family gatherings filled with laughter and love. Michael is survived by his wife, Deborah; children, Rebecca (Timothy Boyd) Schue of Murfreesboro, TN, Amanda (Tony) Berrios of Lorain, Michael J. (Logan May) Schue of Lorain, Nicole (Travis) Ackley of Lorain, and Zachary (Desi) Schue of Lorain; grandchildren, Michael James, Austin, Cole, Owen, Brooklyn, Anthony, Meghan, Cameron, and Austin (Christina); great-grandson, James; brother, Daniel (Cindy) Schue; sister, Kathleen "Cookie" Schue; many nieces and nephews; several four legged grandbabies. He was preceded in death by his infant son; and parents, James and Mercedes Schue Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Mary Mother of God Catholic Church, 309 W. 7th Street, Lorain, Ohio, with Rev. Father Daniel Divis, Pastor, officiating. Following the Mass, a Celebration of Life Remembrance will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the Amherst Outdoor Life Association. Friends are encouraged to bring their fishing poles to cast a line in Michael's memory. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.dovinreberjones.com. ________________________________________

Decades ago Mike, Cookie,Dan and I lived at Granny's house on Oberlin Avenue for awhile. Our McPhie and Camera cousins were just down the street. We got into a lot together---good and bad.

I remember a very rainy day when we got a little famous. We were playing in a large mud puddle in the vacant lot on the corner. Our boat (a small board) was being pushed around with sticks. Suddenly a grown-up with a camera appeared. He took our picture and took our names. The next day we were in the Lorain Journal. Great! And it helped calm our mom's anger at all the mud.

Unfortunately the picture is lost, but the memory will never be.
