Michael David Shadid, 71, passed away on Saturday, February 8th, 2025.
Mike was born on February 15th in Elk City, Oklahoma, the son of Dr. Alexander and Nellie Shadid. He attended Elk City public schools and graduated in 1971 before enrolling at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He later attended Mud School, which led to his lifelong career in the oil industry. Mike eventually returned to school and earned his Bachelor's degree in Computer Programming.
Mike later left Elk City for Mustang, Oklahoma, where he worked in various positions as a computer programmer during the oil bust. He was eventually able to return to the oil field and created his own software, Mud Man Pro, which he sold to other engineers. Known as the "Mud Doctor," Mike gained widespread recognition in the oil industry, traveling across the state and even to Saudi Arabia.
When not on call, Mike enjoyed riding motorcycles in his younger years and had a passion for deer hunting. He also loved woodworking and frequently crafted pieces of furniture for family and friends. After retiring, Mike spent most of his time tending to his garden, sharing the harvest with family, friends, and neighbors.
Mike is survived by his two daughters: Michelle Bryant and her husband Harold Bryant, and Nichole Shadid-Mantooth and her husband Travis Mantooth. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Sarah Shadid, Alex Burke, and Evelyn Mantooth. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Carolyn Bounds and her husband Doug Bounds; his brother, Dr. Alexander Shadid Jr. and his wife Kim Shadid; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who always affectionately referred to Mike as the fun uncle who made them laugh. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Alexander Shadid and Nellie Shadid, and his sister, Phyllis Shadid.
Family will receive friends at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22nd, with funeral services to follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Yukon, OK.
