Michael "Mike" Joseph Shaughnessy Jr., age 62, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, surrounded by love.

Born on July 15, 1963, in Toledo, Mike was the son of Michael J. Shaughnessy Sr. and Nancy E. Shaughnessy. He grew up in Toledo, attended Waite High School, and remained proud of his roots throughout his life.

Mike was a man with a big heart, a sharp wit, and an unforgettable sense of humor. He had a way of making people laugh and feel at ease, no matter the circumstances. He had a deep love for animals, especially his cats, who were truly his companions.

Sports were one of his greatest joys-especially baseball. He was a devoted Detroit Tigers fan who rarely missed a game, always cheering with passion and loyalty. He loved not just watching but also playing sports over the years, sharing that energy with those around him.

Mike also had a special love for music. He especially enjoyed listening to Shania Twain, whose songs could lift his spirits and fill a room with happiness. Music, like sports, connected him to joyful memories and moments with family.

One of his favorite times of the year was Christmas. Mike loved the decorations, the lights, and the joy of the season. He made every holiday brighter with his enthusiasm, turning Christmas into a time his family will forever remember with warmth and gratitude.

Above all, Mike's greatest pride was his family. His children and grandchildren meant everything to him, and he lit up when talking about them. His grandchildren were truly his pride and joy, and every smile, laugh, and hug from them filled his heart.

He is survived by his children: Steven (Ashley) Shaughnessy, Stephanie (Jaelyn) Stringer, Stacey (Lyndsey) Darrow, and Shawn (Leslie) Shaughnessy. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Mya, Serenity, Maci, Aria, Liliana, Adalyn, Melody, Mason, Maizey, Jaxson, Jr., Levi, Jackson, Johnathon, and Elliot. Mike is also survived by his sister, Nancy (Randy) Osthimer, his brother-in-law Phil Buckner Sr., and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his son William F. Csendes, his sister Linda Buckner, and his parents Michael and Nancy Shaughnessy.

A celebration of life will be held on October 18, with arrangements entrusted to Habegger Funeral Services.

Mike will be remembered as a man who loved with his whole heart, who found joy in the simple things, and who could always bring a smile to those around him. His love of family, his humor, his loyalty to the Tigers, his favorite Shania Twain songs, and his magical Christmas spirit will continue to echo in the hearts of everyone who knew him. His laughter, his warmth, and his legacy will never be forgotten.
