Michael Shea Obituary
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, the former Joanne Simrell, who passed away in 2024.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Michael and Stella (Levandoski) Shea. Michael was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish.
A 1976 graduate of Scranton Technical High School, Michael was employed by the Scranton Tribune, MIA Products, and later McLane, where he retired as a maintenance mechanic.
Mike was a fan of classic rock and enjoyed playing guitar with his friends. He was also an avid science fiction enthusiast, with a special love for Star Trek and Star Wars. In addition, he followed NASCAR closely and was a devoted Jeff Gordon fan.
Michael was a loving father and grandfather who always wanted the best for his family.
He is survived by his children, Michael Shea; Melissa Shea; and James Shea and his wife, Heather; as well as his daughter-in-law, Nancy Shea. He was a proud and loving grandfather to eight grandchildren, Caylin, Brianna, Mya, Alyssa, Emma, Hayleigh, James, and Ava, who brought him great joy. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 16, at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, 1217 Prospect Avenue, Scranton, with the Rev. Jonathan Kuhar, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.
Friends and family may call on Thursday, January 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Neil W. Regan Funeral Home, 1900 Pittston Avenue, Scranton.
The family respectfully requests that those attending the Mass on Friday proceed directly to the church. To leave online condolences, please visit the funeral home's website.
