Michael "Mike" James Sims, 72, of Mt. Olivet, KY, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He was born on March 18, 1953, to the late James Alton and Goldie Elizabeth Wheary Sims. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Mahlon Brent Sims.

Mike leaves behind two daughters, Teresa (Nick) Thompson, Angela Sims-Gardner; a brother, Daniel "Dan" (Christina) Sims; grandchildren, Kelsie Lowe, Christina Lowe, Amanda, Dylan; seven great-grandchildren; uncle, Bobby (Ginger) Wheary; nephews and nieces, Christina A. (Brandon) Clos, Daniella E. (Derrick) Myers, Janell B.J. (Marty) Laggenbauer, Mahlon Brent Sims Jr., Mickey (Dora) Sims; great nephews and nieces, Hunter Clos, Elly Myers, Remington Myers; cousin, Tony (Sheri) Wheary.

A service for Mike will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 5:30 P.M. at Robertson County Funeral Home. Visitation will be held just prior to the service beginning at 4:00 P.M. and lasting until the time of service. Mike's brother Daniel Sims will lead services, burial will be private at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Cincinnati Animal CARE, 3949 Colerain Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45223 or to Robertson County Animal Shelter, 758 Brierly Ridge Road, Mt. Olivet, KY 41064.
