Michael Wayne "Mickey" Spencer, 46, of Gilmer, passed away on September 16, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on February 25, 1979, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Mickey was the son of James Rondal “Ronnie” Spencer and Maxine Stuart Fowler. Although born in Arkansas, he was raised in the Grice community of East Texas, where he spent his adult life enjoying a laid-back country life on his family’s land.
Mickey was a loving father and a cherished brother. He worked many jobs throughout his life, but was primarily known as a skilled pipefitter, respected for his dedication and hard work. Outside of work, he found joy in tinkering with cars and motorcycles, and spending time with his friends. Mickey had a sharp wit and dry sense of humor that brought laughter to those around him. He was deeply loved and will be truly missed.
He is survived by his son, Lucas Spencer; daughter, Breanna Spencer; brothers, Paul Spencer and wife Leann, Jay Spencer and wife Misty; and lifelong friends, Billy Phillips and Jeremy Lindsey. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robbie Spencer.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, Texas. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
