Michael A. Spielman Sr.

Michael A. Spielman, Sr., age 75 of Brookfield. U.S. Naval Veteran. Beloved husband of Barbara Spielman, nee Kramer; fond father of Michael A. (Carla) Spielman, Jr., Daniel W. (Jennifer) Spielman and Mary L. (Jeremie) Kennedy; grandfather of Natalie, Ava, Claire, Cameron and John; dear son of late Lowell and the late Ann Spielman, nee Balich; brother of Carol Karel, Susan Thomas, the late Nancy Merkle, Lowell Spielman, Don Spielman and Judy Linden; uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Mike lived almost all of his life in Brookfield, graduating from RBHS in 1966. He worked for the USPS for over 20 years, starting as a letter carrier in Brookfield and finishing as a supervisor in Oakbrook. After taking early retirement, he went on to manage an auto parts store and next as the assistant produce manager at Tischler Finer Foods in Brookfield. Mike served in the Navy from 1968 to 1972 as a Communications Technician and became a proud member of Amvets and the American Legion, serving twice as Commander of the Ed Feely Post in Brookfield. He was passionate about his White Sox, Bears and Bulls, coached kids' baseball from T-Ball through the Babe Ruth level and also served several years as President of Brookfield National Little League. He loved to crack a few Old Styles, slice a few golf balls, knock down a few bowling pins, crafting some amazing friendships along the way. He was a man of faith and would do anything for anybody no matter what and that helped so many to understand just a little better what it means to strive to walk in the footsteps of our Savior. If you had the pleasure of knowing him, you know how important his family and friends were to him and he probably made you laugh because his jokes were always timed perfectly. He would tell you today to hug your loved ones and keep them close because it's a short time to be here and a long time to be gone. Cheers to a life well lived and rest easy, Mike. You were greatly loved and life won't be the same without you, but we know that we'll see you again on the other side.
Memorial Visitation Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 10:30 A.M. to time of Service 11:30 A.M. at Hitzeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 9445 31st Street, Brookfield, IL 60513.
Interment Private.
