LEICESTER - Michael J. St. Francis, age 56, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 17, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Born in Worcester, Michael was the cherished son of Lawrence J. and Carlene (Pulkkinen) St. Francis.
Michael was a proud graduate of Worcester Public Schools and went on to graduate from Worcester Boys Trade Sheet Metal program. For many years, he worked as an auto mechanic, a career that allowed him to use his hands and his heart to help others. His strong work ethic and his ability to connect with those around him left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
He was a devoted father to his beloved daughter, Audrey St. Francis, and a doting grandfather to his granddaughter, Karlee, whom he lovingly called "Peanut." Michael’s family was the center of his world, and he found great joy in spending time with his siblings—his sister, Melissa Dacri and her husband Michael of Leicester, his brother, Dean St. Francis of Lancaster, and his brother Jonathan St. Francis and his wife Celeste of North Carolina.
Michael is also survived by his cherished godmother, Miriam Pecevich of Shrewsbury, his longtime partner, Wanda St. Francis, and her children, who were an important part of his life, along with many nieces and nephews, several extended family members, and countless beloved friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Carlene, his sister Michelle St. Francis, and his beloved uncle Sulo "Ziggy" Pulkkinen.
Michael’s passions were many. He was an avid hockey fan, a lover of the outdoors who enjoyed fishing, and a skilled card player. He had a zest for life and a deep appreciation for simple pleasures, especially those spent with family and friends. Michael also had a special place in his heart for Maine, a place where he found peace and solace during his travels.
A Memorial Mass will be held in Michael’s honor on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster Street, Worcester, MA. All who knew and loved Michael are invited to come celebrate his life, his legacy, and the warmth he brought to the world.
Michael insisted on a GoFundMe campaign to help take the financial burden off his family, and they would like to express their heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed. Your support was greatly appreciated during this difficult time.
The family would also like to extend their deepest gratitude to the nurses and social workers at Brookhaven Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided to Michael and his loved ones.
